1. Clean your wall or surface
Be sure that the surface you are applying the Vinyl Wall Art Decal to is smooth, dry and free of dust, dirt and oil. Wipe down with
a clean, dry, lint free cloth (an old tshirt works great). If you use any type of liquid (ie. windex) to clean the surface, you need to
wait at least 1 hour to ensure the surface is VERY dry. Vinyl Wall Art Decals can be applied to walls, wood, glass, metal or any
smooth, dry surface. Vinyl Wall Art Decals are removable but may not be repositioned or reused.
Do not apply to freshly painted walls! Wait a minimum of 2 weeks after painting.

You will need a table or smooth, flat surface to work on. You will also
need a pair of scissors and a roll of masking tape. I recommend the
blue painter's tape as it is much easier to remove than standard
masking tape. A small craft knife may also be needed, but is not
required. The blue application tool (squeegee) is included with your
kit.
Your decal package needs to relax and unwind. Unroll your decal kit
and lay it face up (application tape side with design visible), and allow
it to uncurl for a while. It will be much easier to handle once it has
straightened a bit. It may be necessary to weight it down with a book
or two. Do not roll the decal backwards to remove the curl.
The instructions below are for basic vinyl application. Please read thoroughly before beginning your installation.

How Vinyl Decals Work
Vinyl decals are sandwiched between a bottom layer of backing paper
and a top layer of application tape as shown in the photo to the left.
The application tape will be either a thin, translucent masking tape or a
clear plastic film. The decal itself is very thin and flimsy and the
application tape allows you to remove the decal from the backing in one
solid piece that remains stable and perfectly spaced. (Note: always peel
from the backing side, not from the application tape side).
Once the decal with the application tape has been rubbed down firmly
onto the wall surface, the application tape is peeled away leaving a
beautiful design on your wall that looks as though it were painted on.
During shipping, the application tape loses it's "bite" on the
decal. You will need to renew the adhesion for a successful
application. Lay your decal elements face down and rub
firmly with the squeegee.
Many of our kits come with multiple elements such as stems,
branches, birds or flowers. In some cases you may need to
cut these elements apart before installation. Some kits
contain flowers or other elements that are small enough to be
applied by peeling and sticking without application tape.
Arrange your decal elements on your wall and tack into place
with a few pieces of masking tape. Once in place, remove
some of the smaller items such as stems and follow the next
instructions apply the large elements to the wall.
Place a strip or two of masking tape through the center of
your design from top to bottom. Be sure that this "hinge" is
securely fastened to the wall. Remove the small pieces of
tape from one side and fold the side over to the left.
Slowly peel the backing paper away from the decal. Use
caution. Often times, small elements will try to remain on the
backing paper. If this occurs, press the backing paper over
the piece and rub firmly with your finger and try again.
Once the folded half of the decal has been exposed, trim the
backing paper near the tape "hinge" and discard. For larger
elements you will need a helper.
Lay the decal back into place and begin smoothing the decal
onto the wall with your hand or the squeegee. If you use your
hand, you will want to go back over the entire decal firmly
with the squeegee before removing the tape.
Once you have one side of your decal anchored to the wall,
you can remove the remaining tape, slowly peel the
remaining backing and apply the other side of the decal.
You can smooth your decal onto the wall using the palm of
your hand, but you will need to rub it down firmly with the
squeegee before removing the application tape.
Once your decal has been firmly squeegeed to the wall you
may remove the application tape. Start at one corner and
slowly pull down at an angle as shown. Keep your hands on
the surface as you pull and be sure that the decal is secure.
Some areas may not be firmly attached to the wall and may
tear as you remove the application tape. If you go slowly,
you can press these pieces back into place and continue.
You made need to trim with a craft knife if this occurs.
Once the large, base elements are in place, you can easily
add the small elements to complete your design. Use the
same methods as before to apply the remaining pieces of
your design.
Decal kits like our large barren tree, require a vertical
application. It is the same process as above but turned on
end. Vertical applications can begin from the top or bottom.
Pictured below is an example of a fine piece of a branch
decal remaining on the backing paper. This is easily
remedied by laying the backing back down and pressing
firmly until the decal is ahered to the application tape.
Designs that require alignment of many elements within one piece can be difficult to align perfectly. You can easily trim any overhanging edges with a craft knife, or gently lift them with the tip of a knife and pull into place.

Some designs require the
alignment of many different
pieces within the same design.
For designs like our barren
winter tree, first arrange all of the
elements on your surface as in
the previous instructions.
Next, remove all but the center
panel and begin applying the
center mentioned earlier. Once
the center is in place, remove the
application tape and align the
remaining elements to the
branches.
Overlap by about 1/8" to avoid
any gaps.
Some kits like our birch trees, have sections that are labeled with numbers or
letters. Just match the numbers or letters of each section and tape into place.
Install using the vertical "hinge" method as in the previous instructions.
Your decals can even go over baseboards, vents, cabinet
doors, etc. Just work the decal into the crevices with the
squeegee and your design will look as though it were painted
on the wall.
Once again, you can easily smooth the decal into place with
your hand, but use the squeegee to firmly rub down the
entire design before removing the application tape
